Well Hey Babes-01.png

I’m Tianna Friend. And before you even ask, yes - that is my actual last name. You would be surprised by how many people ask me “Wait, is that really your last name?” or the classic “How do you spell it?…Oh! Okay, just like…a friend”.

But about me.

I am a Southern California native, and as much as I would love to move out of state, we probably won’t be doing that anytime soon. Guys, California is where its at! Although, I did leave for college. I went to the University of Arizona (beardown!) and then came back and went to the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising.

Insert meeting my husband, getting engaged, adopting our pup child named Jameson, and the best day of it all, the #friendweddingbash! Fast forward to now, and well, I am a wife of (almost) five years and counting, and a mama to three (and counting?) I can just hear my husband now, he’s for sure reading this and saying “ha.” - Babe, you know i had to!

What I’ve learned throughout the past four years since becoming a mom, is that you sometimes forget “who you are” and what it is that you love. As trivial as it sounds, I think the hardest question I’ve been asked lately is “What are your hobbies? / What is your favorite ________? / What do you enjoy doing in your free time?” Let’s just say if I answered these questions five/six years ago, it would have been a lot easier and the answers would have come naturally. But now, not so much.

Nowadays, I really have to think about it. We’ve got three kids, the oldest just turned four and our youngest is six months - we are in the thick of it, people! It’s not that I don’t have hobbies or that I don’t get to enjoy all the things in life. The things I enjoy now are the things I’ve always enjoyed, they just look a little different (and more kid friendly!)

I still enjoy going to the beach, but instead of only needing my towel and headphones, now I’ve got a wagon full of snacks, floaties, baby sunscreen, and a 59lb hydroflask full of water. I still get to be super creative, which I thoroughly enjoy - like throwing really fun birthday parties for my kids and celebrating all of the holidays with parties and DIY crafts. Eating all my favorite foods now require giving 20% of it to my kids. In the car…half of the time, I get to listen to the music I love, like classic rock, pop, and rap (not super kid friendly, I know, but if you put on a rap song that I know all the words to, I feel like a total badass and we all need that feeling in our life, you know!?). But the other half of the time, I have to listen to the Lion King or Frozen soundtrack. And if I’m really lucky I get to listen to Taylor Swift, because I’ve somehow convinced my daughter that Taylor Swift is super cool.

My biggest want from this blog is to have a space where I can let my creative spirit run wild. I can dedicate time for me, and JUST me, to do all the things I love. I can design, take photos, write, share real life shi* & connect with all of you, which will make me the happiest gal in town. Maybe along the road, something big will come from this, and you know what, that’d be pretty rad too.

Anyways, I was going to make this whole “about me” thing short and sweet, but here we are 38 feet down the page and I feel like I’m rambling now. I guess I just had a lot to say.

Maybe that’s what I need this blog for, right? Right.

I hope you’ll cheer me on and stick around for this adventure, I’m sure it’ll be good.
